Position Papers

 

At times, the League of Women Voters of Albany County undertakes a member-approved study, when a study committee researches a local issue and presents findings to the members for discussion and consensus - agreement - about what position we take on that issue.

The reports of three recent local studies follow:

Albany County Legislative Size, an in-depth study to review and, if needed, update a position we had adopted in 2014 that the number of county legislators should be reduced from 39 to 25.

Four-county position on Solid Waste Management, adopted by Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, and Saratoga Leagues, who agreed that effective policies concerning waste are integral to ensuring the clean water, clean air and healthful environment guaranteed in the Environmental Rights Amendment to the New York State Constitution.
